| This category is for templates that are placed directly on redirect pages, right after the redirection link. They serve to categorize each redirect and explain its purpose. Please help keep the list of output examples on Wikipedia:Template messages/Redirect pages up to date. |
The pages listed in this category are templates.
| Further template category notes |
| This category contains pages in the template namespace. It should not be used to categorize articles or pages in other namespaces. |
| µ = stub; t = template; ? = WikiProject, Task Force or Portal-related; ? = WikiReader-related. |
To include a template in this category, add
<noinclude>[[Category:Redirect templates|{{PAGENAME}}]]</noinclude>
to the end of the template code, making sure it starts on the same line as the last character of the code. |

Please be diligent and add appropriate templates to any redirect you create, including those that result from page moves, unless you feel the original redirect should not exist (in that case, see Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion).
These templates can and should be combined when more than one applies; for example, when a redirect to another template is a case variant, add both {{R from alternative capitalisation}} and {{R from other template|working template name}}.
A particularly underused member of this category is {{R from alternative name}}, as such redirects are very common in historical articles.
Cat trick
In addition to being categorized by these templates, an article redirect can be conveniently categorized the same way as the target article using
{{Cat also|Redirect's sort key|List of categories, each separated by pipes}}
When listing the categories, don't include the prefix 'Category:' for any of them. If you use the cat trick on a redirect, be sure to add an inline comment to the target article's list of categories, along the lines of: '<!-- If changing these categories, please adjust categories for the redirect Redirect name as well. -->'
