Disambiguation pages with links

This editor repairs links to disambiguation pages.
Disambiguation pages exist to clarify confusion where two or more similarly named articles exist; for example, if two famous people have the same name. Ideally, Wikipedia articles should not link to disambiguation pages (with rare exceptions where the ambiguity of a term is being discussed); instead links should go directly to the appropriate article.

CorHomo

CorHomo v. 1.3.3 (patched by Jjvaca) in Linux (under GNOME)

CorHomo is a semiautomatic disambiguation tool for Windows and Linux created by Escaladix from the French Wikipedia.

The normal way to fix the disambiguation pages, is by going to one (e.g. Spanish), clicking "What links here" and fixing one by one the list of articles. This manual way of fixing is very slow, and it can be done easier and faster. This program can select the article automatically and the only thing we need is to click in the word we want to, click validate and then send.

Program specifications

The program is simple to use, requiring only the following steps:

  • Enter your username and password.
  • Enter the word you want to fix and click "Start research".
  • Select an article from the list to your left.
  • Click in the link you think best fit.
  • Click "validate" and then "send"

Troubleshooting

As of version 1.3.3:

  • CorHomo appears to only recognise disambiguation pages containing the template {{disambig}}. Other disambiguation page templates, including the functionally equivalent {{disambiguation}}, are not recognised. If CorHomo does not recognise a disambiguation page (and the title is spelled correctly), try adding {{disambig}} to the page, even temporarily.
  • CorHomo occasionally replaces whole pages (for example: [1] [2]) without the user's knowledge. It is important that once having pressed 'send' to fix your link, you must wait for the program to reload the disambiguation page: this is likely to eliminate the error occurring. Wikipedia Cleaner

Wikipedia Cleaner is another tool available for fixing links to disambiguation pages. It's a Java program that should be able to run on most platforms, provided a JVM has been setup first (Java 5 is required, Java 6 is recommended).
