This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Food and drink. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting.

You can help maintain the list on this page:

  • To add a new AfD discussion (once it has already been opened on WP:AFD):
  • Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  • You can also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Food and drink}}<small>—~~~~</small> to it, which will inform users that it has been listed here.
  • There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
  • Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
  • You can also add and remove links to other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Food and drink.

Please note that adding an AfD to, or removing it from, this page does not add it to, or remove it from, the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page, before adding it to this page.

For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Food and drink

[] Persian nectar

Persian nectar (|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View AfD)

Product with no assertion of notability or encyclopedic worth/content. Tznkai (talk) 15:13, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Weak delete It's a real product, and that's about all one can say. Information online is so scarce that even after a brief search I'm no wiser regarding whether this is a type of tea or a specific brand name. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 15:35, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Delete A brand of tea? ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:52, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Delete - notability neither asserted nor documented. --Latebird (talk) 00:30, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Robert's Coffee

Robert's Coffee (|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View AfD)

There appears to be a dearth of reliable sourcing discussing this company in depth. Notability therefore not established Spartaz Humbug! 16:48, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Lo Salt

Lo Salt (|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View AfD)

Notability is in question, so let's put it under scrutiny: it is a brand of salt. That's all it is. Not notable. Boshinoi (talk) 19:35, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

  • Delete. Not any different from salt substitutes, except perhaps the fact it's not entirely substitute. (Not to mention the fact that our body is susceptible to changes in our potassium levels much more than a change in sodium level)... - Mgm|(talk) 23:06, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep. Notable product, discussed in many places: [1][2][3] are just a few examples found in seconds of looking on Google. JulesH (talk) 00:00, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
  • Delete Spammy. No good references in article. ChildofMidnight (talk) 01:42, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment Note that this AFD was started by a banned user (Jarlaxle/Grawp or an imitator). NawlinWiki (talk) 12:39, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
    • Comment Even so, regardless of the banned user's intentions, now that I've looked at the article, and have done some research, I have issues with notability based on the content. Geoff (talk) 01:16, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Delete Non notable. A Google search turns up numerous bagel-chips recipes, numerous generic "lo salt" references and ad pages for the product. Geoff (talk) 01:09, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
  • The poor sources you cite are irrelevant. What matters are the good sources such as those cited by Jules H above. Colonel Warden (talk) 13:09, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Note: This debate has been included in the list of Food and drink-related deletion discussions. -- Raven1977 (talk) 23:45, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so that consensus may be reached.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Ron Ritzman (talk) 00:01, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Close and delist AfD brought by banned user. —/Mendaliv//?'s/ 01:07, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
  • I would have done that instead of relisting if there weren't 3 good faith "delete" arguments. When this is closed, the reviewing admin will simply ignore the nomination statement which is also "just a !vote" (sic). --Ron Ritzman (talk) 01:57, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Delete, banned nominator notwithstanding this just doesn't seem to have enough reliable sources. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 03:26, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep/merge There are plenty more sources out there but the article, being slight, might be best merged to Salt substitute. Colonel Warden (talk) 13:06, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep - A brand named product that captures 84% of a country’s market share, as shown here by reliable - independent sources [4] [5] is pretty notable to me and falls within our notability guidelines. Likewise, as Colonel Warden pointed out, there are “…plenty more sources out there”, as noted above. Worst case scenario should be an article created for Klinge Foods, the manufacturer and only manufacturer in the UK specialized producer of potassium chloride, as noted here [6]and this peice be redirected there. ShoesssS Talk 16:36, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Weak Keep. It does assert notability, I've heard the name plenty of times before. TopGearFreak 18:01, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Leek soup

Leek soup (|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View AfD)

Where there are leeks there is leek soup. This is an unremarkable soup, surely not notable. It should be transwikied to Wiktionary and removed from Wikipedia. It is a dicdef. Anyone creating a soup out of salt, water and leeks with no added ingredients will find they have salty leeky water, too, rather than a pleasant soup. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 11:01, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

  • Merge with Leek for now (probably a new bullet point under to existing three in cuisine will do). There probably is enough references to leek soup out there for an article if anyone wants to write one, but a simple recipe isn't enough to warrant a separate article. (Might be a case for an article on Leek recipes though.) Chris Neville-Smith (talk) 11:09, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
  • Delete and merge, as above — Unless anyone wishes to take on the expansion of this subject with reliable sources, then I suggest deletion and merging with Leek until someone comes along and does a better job. —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 15:10, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
  • Merge - With Leek, should be noted there, however specific article, unless it's expanded, isn't necessary. NeurovLogic 15:58, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep Article needs work. But leek soup is notable. ChildofMidnight (talk) 06:16, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment why would it ever be transwikied to wikitionary? Last I checked, wikitionary was not a recipe book. ?oian ‡orever ?ew ‡rontiers 07:07, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
It can be transwikied to wikibooks, which does have a recipe book. - Mgm|(talk) 09:27, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep keep and expand, from the 100s of culinary sources available. Dealing with the historical and practical aspects of he subject, articles of any common food can be made encyclopedic. DGG (talk) 09:32, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Keep Whether the soup is pleasant or not is not for Wikipedia to decide. Being pleasant is not a requirement for articles on soups. Fg2 (talk) 11:15, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Note: This debate has been included in the list of Food and drink-related deletion discussions. -- • Gene93k (talk) 21:03, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Merge with Leek. McWomble (talk) 09:57, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Merge with Leek and Transwiki to Wikibooks/Recipe Books per what Mgm said. ?oian ‡orever ?ew ‡rontiers 06:15, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep. Definitely notable. Malinaccier P. (talk) 18:21, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
