*If the scope of your project idea is very narrow (such as a TV show, music band, video game, etc), or your idea is a variation on a common theme, consider starting a task force within an existing project instead of a whole new WikiProject. It is always possible to expand to full project later if enough interest develops.
- Remember to check the Directory to make sure the same or similar project does not already exist. Also, check the archives ( 1, 2, 3) to see if your idea has been previously proposed.
- Be careful when using another WikiProject's existence to justify your own, especially if that project's membership is small. There are currently many projects with small/ineffective membership numbers. It may be more practical/effective to establish a task force and build your membership.

Please note that the proposal format has changed. Please use the template. |
This page can be used to gauge support for potential WikiProjects before putting a lot of effort into creating a detailed project page.
- Proposing a project
- To propose a project, write a brief description (including links to the related Wikipedia articles), and add it along with your name to the list below (in chronological order). Some boilerplate you can use:
{{SUBST:WikiProject Proposal
|ProjectName = The Name of the Wikiproject
|Description = Your Description of the proposed wikiproject.
|USER1= ~~~~
}}
- Creating a project
- If your project gains support from 5-10 active Wikipedians, it could probably benefit from the organisation boost of having a proper page. Remove it from this list and follow the instructions for creating new projects. If you want to start a page before you have 5-10 active Wikipedians, consider setting up the page on a subpage of your user page until it is active, while leaving the posting here with a link to the user page. You can also promote the newly created WikiProject at {{Announcements/Community bulletin board}}.
- Requesting a project
- There may be cases where you believe that there is a pronounced need for the creation of a project which does not yet exist which you may not personally feel qualified to join. Some examples might be certain countries, disciplines, etc. In the event you are aware of such a situation, please add the relevant name to the list of projects below and see if there are any individuals interested in creating such a project.
- Archive
- In the event a given proposal does not receive sufficient support within 4 months of posting here to create a project or task force (e.g., those posted before 4 August 2008), it is added to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Archive page.
Projects
[] Wikiproject Arminianism
Description
Originally developed out of a desire to balance the Wikiproject Calvanism, and give a comprehensive view together with that project of the effects of both in tandem throughout the centuries. Nonetheless, considering the vast impact that Arminianism has had on so many traditions, it would be good to organize and facilitate the collection and promotion of articles pertaining to every aspect of the Arminian tradition, including people, events, traditions, texts, et al.

- WikiProject Ohio seems pretty active, why not join that project and possibly set up a task force there? --B. Wolterding (talk) 12:53, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Concur with above. Sounds like a great Task Force idea that could be expanded if additional interest develops. Absolon S. Kent (talk) 20:26, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

- Support - You may have initial problems gathering support. If so, you may consider starting as a Task Force in WikiProject Music and expanding to a full WikiProject later. -- Absolon S. Kent (talk) 15:15, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

This is an article of great potential that talks about all the moral values we have as humans, values that bring life to our species if we practice them. My article has been prouposed for deletion because the say it need improvment, and this is why decided to start a project.

Wikiproject WikiProject Fife
[] Description
This article would cover all Fife-related articles such as places, famous people, museums, football and rugby clubs and churches to name a few. Examples would be: Kirkcaldy, Andrew Carnegie, Adam Smith, Dunfermline Abbey, Dunfermline Athletic, The Old Course and Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery. This could also help support articles that really do need a lot of work while keeping general maintenance. Examples would be: Methil, Dunfermline, Cupar and a lot of the smaller towns such as Kennoway and Lower Largo.

Wikiproject Haystack
[] Description
-
Sort out the most essential.
WikiProject Haystack aims to highlight the most essential in Wikipedia. To avoid being overwhelmed by all information in Wikipedia, it puts the most essential into special template boxes that may be read and searched separately, and thus accomplishes what other Wikipedia features and sister project fails to achieve. Its smaller size would also facilitate for mobile users, and fit into a printed book version.

Wikiproject Iron Maiden
I think a wikiproject should be created to improve all the articles related to the English heavy metal band Iron Maiden. There's are tons of articles that coulld be improved and enough important information to add. I'm willing to help in pretty much "everything" related to that band. Hope I'll find some wikipedians interested!

- Weak oppose - Single band / group wikiprojects tend to loose steam quickly. Recommend a task force in the musician wikiproject. -- Absolon S. Kent (talk) 17:55, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Wikiproject WikiProject Featured Topics
[] Description
A WikiProject focussing on creating Featured Topics (FT) and Good Topics (GT) as well as re-creating former featued topics. I, for one, commonly think of creating a Featured or Good Topic, but do not put the project to work, due to a lack of help from other users. My plan is a page on which users can propose their FT or GT plans and other users can see if they want to join, it doesn't matter what kind of topic (Arts, Music, Literature, Everyday Life etc.).

Wikiproject Christianity in Asia
[] Description
Although this could probably best be a subset of WikiProject Christianity, perhaps we need a working group who could look at Christianity in parts of the world such as Japan. There are important theologians from Japan, such as Kosuke Koyama, and this group could help to give such figures better coverage in Wikipedia, thereby helping Wikipedia to avoid cultural bias.
