Manimal Vinyl is a Los Angeles based record label founded in 2006. They have released albums from The Chapin Sisters, Bat For Lashes, Apollo Heights, Hecuba and recently Through the Wilderness : a tribute to Madonna, which was released worldwide on November 27th 2007, featuring contributions from Lavender Diamond, Giant Drag , Jonathan Wilson, The Tyde, Jeremy Jay and Apollo Heights among others. The label is distributed worldwide through RedEye and Cargo. They are currently working on releases from Bat For Lashes multi-instrumentalist, Caroline Weeks, French progressive noise band Aquaserge as well as new material from Ariel Pink, Rio en Medio, ambient-noise collective East Berlin and a tribute record to The Cure titled Perfect As Cats: a tribute to The Cure which will feature covers by The Dandy Warhols, Bat For Lashes, Kaki King, blackblack and more. On June 7th, 2008 they launched the first annual Manimal Festival in Pioneertown, California with performances by Ariel Pink and his band, Haunted Graffiti, blackblack, The Chapin Sisters, Hecuba and several Los Angeles and New York City folk and pop groups associated with the label. In August 2008, it was announced that they would be launching a new division called Manimal 2 which will focus on digital only releases of up and coming artists in the experimental and pop vein.
