"Digging the Grave" is a song by Faith No More, released as the first single from their fifth studio album King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime. Like the rest of the singles released from the album, it failed to chart in the U.S. However, the song became the band's fourth-highest charting single in the UK.
Although the song displays a raucous angry side to the album, the lyrics seem personal and almost vulnerable. The song is about a failed relationship that ultimately enlightens the narrator (Mike Patton) to a better understanding of their self and what they want as a person.

Live performances
"Digging the Grave" was a staple of Faith No More concerts from 1995 until the group's disbandment several years later. As can be heard in this particular live performance, Mike Patton flawlessly replicates his studio performance in a live setting — deafening screams and all.
